Welcome to Third Grade! We are looking forward to a happy and productive year together! Here is some important information to help you understand what will be happening this year.

School Hours

  • Monday - Friday 8:00am-2:14pm
  • Arrival 7:40am-8:00am
  • Dismissal 2:14pm-2:20pm

School Uniforms

P.S. 52 follows the School Uniform Policy. Students are required to wear their school uniform Monday-Thursday. On the days that your child has gym, they may wear PS 52 Phys Ed pants or shorts and sneakers must be worn.

Money Collection

Throughout the year, there will be times that we will need to collect money, like for trips or school events. We ask that the money be placed in an envelope. Seal the envelope, and on the front, please write the following information: Child's Name, Class #, Amount of money enclosed, and what the money is for.

Birthday Parties

Please provide notice to the teacher one week in advance that you would like to celebrate your child's birthday. Birthdays will be celebrated in the classrooms, in the afternoons, and should last about 20 minutes. Due to allergies and safety concerns, goody bags containing food cannot be distributed. Please also check with your child's teacher to see if there are any food allergies in the class. Parents may attend, but siblings of any age may not attend.

  • Class Dojo is checked daily and your child's teacher will respond at his/her earliest convenience.

Google Classroom

  • Emails and passwords will be distributed.
  • Utilized in the event we are remote.

Curriculum

Eureka Math is the program that we use at PS 52.

Zearn.org can be used to review numbers to 20. Your child will receive log in information from that soon.

Heggerty Phonemic Awareness

Fast, fun, and effective, our 10-minute daily lessons deliver explicit instruction in critical phonemic awareness and early literacy skills.

Orton-Gillingham

A structured, multisensory method for teaching reading and spelling

HMH Reading

  • Students will focus on a skill and strategy each week.
  • Some strategies that we will focus on are sequencing story events, story elements (character, setting, problem, solution), making inferences, asking questions and using picture clues.

Clusters

Each week your child will have Science, Social Studies, Gym, and Music. Please check with your child's teacher for the days that they have each class.

Class 108 Student Supply List 2026-2027

Welcome to Class 108 for those of you who are new to the class and for those of you who are returning! Here is a list of supplies needed for the upcoming school year. Label all items with your child's name and class.

Please note that it is extremely helpful if you send in supplies on the first day of school.

How to prepare your child

Expectations:

Google Classroom - Goals will be posted and tracked for Math and ELA
30 minutes of reading every night

Communication - Folders Must Be Checked Every Day

Basic Personal Information

Please make sure your child is knowledgeable about the following

  • Phone Number
  • Parent's Phone Number
  • Their own Cell Phone Number if they have one
  • Grandparent or Aunt or Close Friend's Phone Number
  • Their own Home Phone Number
  • Address

Please make sure your child knows their neighborhood and what blocks their house is near or local stores that could be used as a benchmark

HOMEWORK

Homework will be assigned and posted on Google Classroom as well as a hard copy in your child's blue folder

MATH

Number sense

Place value from millions to thousandths (prior knowledge of whole number place value ones to millions)
Multiplication and Division of large numbers both whole and with decimals. (prior knowledge of multiplication tables 1-12)
Comparing numbers (>,<,=)
Word form, expanded form and unit form

Fractions

Addition and Subtraction
Multiplication and Division
(Prior knowledge of equivalent fractions, Mixed numbers and improper fractions and simplifying or reducing)

Students will use S.C.U.B.E.S to be able to approach and solve word problems.

  • HMH (new reading and writing curriculum)
