Second Grade Supply List 2026-2027

We are looking forward to working with you and your child this upcoming school year. The following supplies are due in September when we return to school. Please send each item labeled with your child’s name and class.

• 2 boxes of 24 sharpened pencils
• 4 marble notebooks
• 1 ruler- 12 inches (inch/centimeter) TO KEEP AT HOME
• 2 roll of paper towel
• 2 boxes of tissues
• 1 package of baby wipes
• 1 container of Clorox or Lysol wipes
• 1 bottle of hand soap
• 1 bottle of hand sanitizer
• 1 package of gallon Ziploc bags - LAST NAME Initial A-K ONLY
• 1 package of quart sized Ziploc bags - LAST NAME Initial L-Z ONLY
• 1 pencil case (NO PENCIL BOXES)

PS 52 will be providing all other classroom supplies not listed. Please, no pencil sharpeners

Arrival 7:40am-8:00am

Dismissal 2:14pm-2:20pm

School Uniforms

P.S. 52 follows the School Uniform Policy.

• Students are required to wear their school uniform Monday-Thursday.
• Uniforms (khaki pants, skirt or shorts with navy blue top) must be worn Monday - Thursday.
• Sneakers should be worn on gym days.
  
• Friday is a dress down day.
  
• On gym days, students can wear P.S. 52 shorts or sweatpants and a solid navy shirt.
  

Money Collection

Throughout the year, there will be times that we will need to collect money, like for trips or school events. We ask that the money be placed in an envelope. Seal the envelope, and on the front, please write the following information: Child's Name, Class #, Amount of money enclosed, and what the money is for.

Birthday Celebrations

This year birthdays will still be celebrated in the classroom. Fortunately, parents will be able to attend. If you would like to send something in for your child’s birthday, please let us know and we can schedule a day. Also, food and drinks should be individually wrapped. Please send in one flavor of the birthday treat (ex- all chocolate munchkins) in order to be fair to all children. Goodie bags are not permitted and will be returned home if sent in. Students are not allowed to leave school with any food.

• Utilized in the event we are remote.

Behavior Management

All second grade classes use a colored behavior chart (red, yellow, green). Each day, students will color in their behavior. Please be sure to sign it daily.

Curriculum

Eureka Math is the program that we use at PS 52.

Zearn.org can be used to review numbers to 20. Your child will receive log in information from that soon.

Heggerty Phonemic Awareness

Fast, fun, and effective, our 10-minute daily lessons deliver explicit instruction in critical phonemic awareness and early literacy skills.

A structured, multisensory method for teaching reading and spelling

HMH Reading

• Students will focus on a skill and strategy each week.
• Some strategies that we will focus on are sequencing story events, story elements (character, setting, problem, solution), making inferences, asking questions and using picture clues.
